As It Lies: Print Edition
A downloadable game
As It Lies: Print Edition is a small roll-and-write golf puzzle generator. It makes fresh hex-grid holes that you can print, save as PDF, or export as SVG, then play with a pencil and dice.
You choose where to tee off, which club to use, and which line to take. The dice decide how far the ball travels.
What it is
Each hole is built around a course layout rather than a loose scattering of terrain. You may get a straight hole, a dogleg, a split route, or a choice of approaches to the green. Water, trees, bunkers, fairway, and rough all affect the route.
Choose a par, architecture, and difficulty, or leave them random. The generator checks that each accepted hole has a playable route before showing it.

What you get
The generator
A self-contained HTML app for generating, reproducing, saving, and printing golf holes. Extract the ZIP and open index.html in a modern browser.
The rules and licence
The full rules are available inside the app. The download also includes the personal-use licence as a separate file.
This is the print-only edition. It creates the course sheet, but it does not include on-screen shot selection, dice rolling, ball movement, or score tracking.
How it works
Generate a course, choose any tee hex, then select a club and one of the six straight hex directions. Roll the club's distance and draw the shot. Continue until the ball finishes exactly on the cup.
Water and shots off the course cost a penalty. Trees can be carried from the tee but block later shots. Fairway placement and the short game matter, especially when the obvious long shot leaves an awkward distance.
Play alone against par, or give several players the same seed and compare scores.
What you need
A pencil, a six-sided die, and a three-sided die. A normal d6 can replace the d3: read 1-2 as 1, 3-4 as 2, and 5-6 as 3.
A printer is useful, but you can also save a PDF or SVG and mark it digitally.
Offline and private
The app has no runtime dependencies, makes no network requests, and requires no account. Keep the downloaded files and it will continue to work offline.
Licence
As It Lies is supplied for personal use. You may play it, print reasonable copies for your own household, table, classroom, or non-commercial group, and modify it for your own personal use.
You may not redistribute, rehost, resell, rebrand, or repackage the app, source, rules, or printable materials. The readable source is source-available, not open source. The complete licence is included with the download.
